Editorial Policy
Source standards
We prefer primary and authoritative sources: standards bodies (such as NIST and the Craft Yarn Council), manufacturers' published data, and established references such as the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart. Every calculator lists at least two sources, and every source link is checked before publishing.
Fact-checking
- Each reference value is compared with the cited source.
- The calculation logic is covered by automated tests with at least five known answers.
- Worked examples are recalculated by hand.
- Assumptions and limitations are stated on the page.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help draft text and code. AI is a drafting aid, not a source: no number is published because an AI produced it. Content is reviewed for accuracy and usefulness before publishing, following Google's guidance on helpful, people-first content.
Helpful content checklist
- Who made it? Pages name the Editorial team and link to its page.
- How was it made? Pages show formulas, sources and the date they were last updated.
- Why does it exist? To answer a real question with a working tool, not to fill search results. We do not publish near-duplicate pages that only change a number.
Updates
We review each page at least every 90 days. The "Last updated" date only changes when content changes in substance.
Corrections
To report an error, see the contact page. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly and the page's date is updated.
Advertising
The site currently shows no ads. If ads are added later, they will be clearly labelled and will never influence calculator results or content.
