Writing prompt
LinkedIn Post from a Real Experience
Turn a real work story into a LinkedIn post with a strong first line, one lesson and a genuine question, without the clichés.
The prompt
Write a LinkedIn post based on my real experience. Keep every fact I give and invent nothing.
What happened: {{experience}}.
Lesson: {{lesson}}.
Reader: {{audience}}.
Voice: {{voice}}.
Structure:
- Line 1 (hook, under 12 words): a specific moment or number from the story, not a generic statement.
- Lines 2–3: the situation, briefly.
- Middle: what I did, in 3–5 short lines; include one concrete detail (a number, a quote, a decision).
- The lesson in one sentence.
- How the reader can apply it this week, in 1–2 lines.
- End with a genuine question that invites experiences, not "Agree?".
Formatting: short lines, blank lines between thoughts, no emoji bullets, no hashtags in the body, max 3 hashtags at the end. 120–200 words.
Avoid: "I'm humbled", "Here's the thing", "Let that sink in", one-word dramatic lines, fake dialogue, and any claim I did not provide.
Give two versions: one story-first, one lesson-first. Variables
| Variable | What to put | Example |
|---|---|---|
{{experience}} | What happened | We lost our biggest client and rebuilt revenue in six months |
{{lesson}} | The one thing you learned | Never let one client exceed 25% of revenue |
{{audience}} | Who should read it | Founders of service businesses with under 20 staff |
{{voice}} | How you write | Direct, a little self-deprecating |
Tips
- Add one detail only you would know; it is what makes the post feel real.
- Reply to every comment in the first hour; that matters more than the wording.
